Annoyed With Loud Phones

Thank author of this post/commentI am always annoyed at inconsiderate people. Why can't they learn their manners and make everybody around them happy.

I was in a theater watching Prince of Persia the other day with my kids and is on the middle part of the film when suddenly Michael Jackson sung in the background. "Smooth Criminal" was the song and no, it is not from the movie, it is from the cell phone of the man in front of us. What I do not understand is his reason for not immediately answering the call. It's like he wanted others to hear his ring tone clearly before he picks it up.

We were at the part where Jake Gyllenhaal killed himself with that magical dagger. Somehow I can tell it's nearing the climax of the movie and so I was really paying attention on every action and every words, that's how committed I am when watching movies. So you can just imagine how irritating it was hearing such ring tone in max volume.

The sound filled the whole theater and everyone, including me, looked at him, missing the next few scenes of the film. Next scene I saw, the protagonist was alive again and I didn't even know how it happened. I know for sure it's because of that magical dagger, but I didn't really saw how it was able to reverse time because of that noisy disturbance. I was defocused!

Even the person sitting next to that ill-mannered person just shrug-off his dismay and moved on the other side.

The man eventually answered his phone and their conversation took about 5 minutes. Five minutes of irritation is hell too long for a movie that is only less than two hours.

I was about to forgive him for everything thinking we can just watch the film again on the next screening when I realized the cinema only offered us one-time-viewing tickets. Sheez!

That is the problem most of us encounters. It is really annoying to find people like that. Always flaunting their stuffs which is not a good attitude. Sometimes I would want to scream, "Hey man, we do not care if you have a loud phone so cut it out!" But well, people are like that. Always boasting out and not by words now, but with their stuffs. Oh well, got to get used to those kind of stuffs now.

Guess we all have a fair share of encounters with various forms of jerks inside the theater. I for one have no tolerance at such people and would make to a point to let them feel guilty and ashame of their disturbing habit inside the theater. Here is what you can do, you can either "shoosh" them to point out their noise or just go direct to the point and tell them to turn off their phone. Don't shout just tell them so.

You can always impose your right, your right to have a relaxed movie experience without all of the noise other movie goer does. I have to agree with Elaine, better tell that person that his noise really irritates you and those who are also watching. But try to approach them in a nice friendly manner. We do not want to have a fight inside theaters. Just make them realize that they are watching with other people, and their noise are not necessary.
