what should i do, my dog bit me!?! :(? - Your Boss
| what should i do, my dog bit me!?! :(? well, I have this dog(shihtzu), and she is almost 9 years old.. and she bites aggressively if you: accidently touch her while she sleeps( she was on my lap and i shifted a little and she bit me!), basically anythig that would annoy her.... she has been biting for a while....... but when she bites she breaks skin, and if i try to show her who is boss she would bite me again...... I really love this dog and she is fine as long you don't bother her, but it is hard to have a dog like this...... I don't want to put her down...... what are your suggestions? BTW, i brought another pup in the house but they are seperates, so i am not worried about that and the new dog has nothing to do with it because she was biting before she came... alot of you said to say no or hit her on the nose but like I said, when I do that she nips me AGAIN, so that doesn't help, it just causes me more pain Also, I can't do much cause it really hurts! I can't help that.... Welll, if i say no, she doesn't bite me but if i hit her on the nose she will....... but no doesn't help, tried that been there... Thanks for trying to help though! :) |
| "Bite back!"
You should bite back of course... show your dog who the real boss is! |
| Dogs are like children... they need to know who is the master. If you show them that they need disciplining, they will know their boundaries. So say No.. show a fearless face. |
| It is not tolerable! Sorry to say this but if I am the owner of that dog, I will either let him stay outside to become a more reliable guard dog outside the lawn or given to another adoption center. The whole point of having pets are to be relaxed and not be stressed. Not to mention that there might be a danger of him transferring his rabies to you. Even if it is fully inoculated with anti-rabies vaccine it is still a big bother to treat those skin lacerations, wounds, etc. |
| I have to agree with the people here. I use to have a dog with the same attitude as that one. I am pushed into giving him to an adoption house because I have two kids at home that are prone on getting bitten by the dog. It is sad to let go of a pet but I am left with no choice but to let go. Anyway, thanks for sharing and have a great day to all. |
| I can't understand why you still prefer to keep your dog. Aren't dogs supposed to protect their owners? Obviously, you're in danger because of your dog. Does your dog have all the necessary shots against rabies? Based on your story, I think your dog will only be more aggressive if you will assert yourself and show him who's the boss so maybe it's best to just take him to an adoption house and to get a nicer dog. |
