Do your coworkers frequently steal things from each other and from you?

Thank author of this post/commentI think I work with a bunch of kleptomaniacs. Lunches are routinely stolen from the office refrigerators, spare change is stolen from desks when it is left out, tupperware is stolen that is left in the cafeteria, iphones have been stolen, coffee mugs, etc. It's annoying. You'd think that you wouldn't see that in an office so much since everyone there has a job and can afford to buy things of their own, but it happens more there than any other place I've ever been. Heck even at the gym I've left my ipod sitting out in the locker room while I shower and I come back and its still there.

Not all of the time but there are some occasions when some of my stuffs suddenly got lost and after a day or two my coworker suddenly have the same stuff. I do not want to think that they stole my things but it seems that they do. I would never do such thing and I wonder what comes into this people's mind to continue doing such stuffs. What do you think?

Well, gadgets get stolen here in our office. In other buildings here in our compound, thieves open some drawers if they know that the laptop is being kept there or sometimes, they just get the mobile phone or I-pod on your desk.

But to steal lunch and the food of your officemate is the height of stealing. I don't think people do that here in our office. Should we be proud? No, because there are still thieves who steal bigger items here.

Thank author of this post/comment"Stolen Key While At Work"

My friends keys were taken from her purse by a coworker. My friend reported to security and the office building who checked the trash and areas where she had been that day without any luck of finding the keys. My friend had to sit outside of her house until she could get someone to help her get in her house.

The coworker never reported finding keys, missing keys or lost keys, and was out of the office for a few days. When she returned my friend asked if she had seen her keys, and the coworker pulled out the keys from her desk.

My friend does not feel comfortable with this happening and is wondering if she should report to HR. She is working a temp assignment at the company where this happened. What is the best way to handle this situation.

If you are working with thieves then I am sorry for you. It must have been chaos just to survive or guess who is the prick behind those cases of missing office supplies and personal stuff. Luckily I haven't had the bad luck to work with one as I speak but I have heard some of my friends have similar tales and it is really unimaginable. How can people have complete disregard of decency and steal things?

Thank author of this post/comment"Never Be Too Confident And Trusting"

We really have to anticipate people trying to get through our stuffs. And so the best thing to do is to keep our stuffs well secured at all times, our drawers locked and our important things well kept.

For whatever it is that we are to loose, we are somehow to be blamed. For being too confident and at ease.

Hope those kind of things would never ever happen to me.
