| Yahoo! Answers: A coworker is driving me crazy, need some advice on how to deal? I have a coworker who is a know it all. When someone asks me a question, he blurts out the answer before I can start to speak. He reorganizes work that I am doing without telling me. In every meeting he has 10 suggestions for how to make anything/everything better. If an interesting work assignment is up for grabs he will fight tooth and nail to get it, even if someone else would benefit more from doing it. All of this really annoys me, and it happens every day. What are your strategies for coping with a coworker like this? |
| I understand how you feel toward this kind of person. I also have the same co-worker who acts that way. At first, I didn’t mind her, thinking that she's doing it to impress our boss or whatever reason she has. But, as time goes by, I observe that it's kind of her habit to act as if she knows everything. What I did is, I talked to her personally and made her aware that what she does isn't agreeable. |
| I think all of us here are suffering from co workers of that sort. But the thing is to not let those folks even bother us. Just leave them with what they want to do. Mind your work and just concentrate on it. There would always be those kind of people in any work and offices, and so what we need to do is to learn how to cope and adopt with them. |
| Don't let your co worker distract you from doing your job. Having this kind of people around your working area is normal. They'll make your day colorful. You just have to cope with this kind of behavior because there are many people like this who'll drive you crazy. Just mind your own task and enjoy your life. But of course, if he already pushes you to the limit, then it's proper to confront him nicely so that he'll know his wrong. Maybe this is the chance for him to change. |
| "Focus"
Before I became a full-time housewife I was first an office employee. I too have these kinds of people to socialize with but I don't bother myself with their obnoxious antics. A friend once told me that rather than stressing myself with people who seem to be make it to a point to be a jerk in every possible way, I should just focus on the task at hand. Why are we there in the first place? We are there to work and socializing comes in second. Work is already stressful so don't let another form of stress add up. |
